JoyConnect Set-up Guide - EMIS (Practice Managers)

Follow this guide to install JoyConnect 🚀

Step 1: Open up EMIS

Step 2: Check that your EMAS permissions are correct 

1. Click the EMIS ball.

2. Choose “System Tools”.

3. Choose “EMAS Manager”.

   

4. Choose "Partner API" from the bottom left.

   

5. Find and then select "Joy" from the list.

6. Click “Edit Users”

7. Click on "User" to alphabetise the list.

8.  Find the name of

1. 1. any staff who may be connecting/signposting patients to local services e.g.
      1. GPs and clinicians who may signpost a patient to support during a consultation
      2. Admins Staff handling appointment requests
      3. ARRS roles such as Social prescribers/health coaches/care coordinators
         Please don’t untick any users who are already ticked.

9. Tick the box next to their name.

10. Click OK.

11. Click “Log in Access”.

12.  Click on "User" to alphabetise the list.

13. Find the name of 

• any staff who may be connecting/signposting patients to local services e.g.

1. 1. GPs and clinicians who may signpost a patient to support during a consultation
   2. Admins Staff handling appointment requests
   3. ARRS roles such as Social prescribers/health coaches/care coordinators
      Please don’t untick any users who are already ticked.

14. Tick both boxes for “auto” and “allow login”. Please don’t untick any users who are already ticked.

15. Click “OK”.

Step 3: Please deactivate and then reactivate the Joy Partner API

1. Click on Partner API, find Joy in the list and click deactivate application 
   
2. Find 'Joy' in the list on the Partner API again and click reactivate 
   
3. You should now see green ticks under the service message details for Joy
   

4. Please log out and log back into EMIS for all changes to take effect.

Step 4: Open up the client record of a 'dummy' or 'real' patient on EMIS

Step 5: Download the Sharepoint file that has been sent to you

• When this file lands in your downloads folder it will be marked as unsafe so you will need to follow these steps to keep the download:
  
  1. Click the 3 dots next to the file 
  
  2. Click 'Keep'
  
  3. Click 'Show more'
  
  4. Click 'Keep anyway' 
  

Step 6: Click to open the file that has been downloaded

• Once you have opened the file you will see this window
• Click 'More info':
  
• Then click 'Run anyway' 
  

Step 7: You will need to click install when this window appears

• You will see the below screen when JoyConnect is installing

• You will see this screen to confirm that JoyConnect is installed

Step 8: Install .net (if required)

• If you don't have .net installed it will prompt you to install .net
• If you do have .net installed skip to Step 6
• Once this is finished installing you will have to restart JoyConnect

Step 9: Restart JoyConnect

1. Open Task Manager

2. Find JoyConnect and click on it 

3. Click 'end task'

4. Open it up again by using the start menu and clicking on the JoyConnect application

Step 10: Approve JoyConnect

• An EMIS pop-up will appear where you will have to put in your EMIS username and password to approve JoyConnect
  
• Wait a few minutes and if you do not see the JoyConnect account creation window then please repeat Step 7 and restart JoyConnect
• A JoyConnect application icon should have appeared on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen

Step 11: Create an account on JoyConnect

• Follow the account creation instructions which will require you to put in an email and password then click on a tickbox
• Please note this is not your EMIS password and the password you create must be 12 characters in length 
• Click Create 

The expected result is that if you have a patient open (dummy or real) then the JoyConnect widget should appear in the bottom right of your screen🌟
